Affordable Accessible Conflict Resolution
Understanding
My mediation approach is rooted in the Understanding-Based model developed by the Center for Understanding in Conflict. The Understanding-Based model works toward increasing the parties' empathy and compassion. It is not therapy. As a mediator, I work to find individual solutions that fulfill your common goals. I will motivate and work with each person to have the increased capacity and resilience to take on the challenge of solving the conflict themselves. This really works. When each person becomes invested in resolving the conflict, everyone becomes more invested in upholding the agreements.
Curiosity
I listen. I ask questions. I never think ‘I have the answer for this family’ but rather ‘how can I facilitate this family’s change and turn it into something positive?’ With some collaborative digging and rebuilding, families can find the solutions that work for them. I love working with families to help them find creative out-of-the-box solutions. I am always amazed at people's ability to hang in there, tolerate the conflict, and find resolutions.
Accessible Rates based on a Sliding Scale
Getting divorced or developing a family parenting plan after separating shouldn't break the bank. It's already hard enough, both emotionally and financially to restructure a family, the financial fees shouldn't put the family into debt and cause even more stress.
I firmly believe that high quality mediation services and legal advice and counsel should be accessible to all New Yorkers. Many New Yorkers work hard and struggle every day to pay high rents, childcare and healthcare yet do not qualify for free legal services. I aim to bridge this gap by offering a sliding scale to families with a combined household income of $75-300K and a flat rate above $300K. To learn more about Sliding Scale & Fees click here.
